So my youngest Noah, is visiting from Edinburgh (where he is attending the university) and we have spent a considerable amount of the time he is here Cross Country skiing at Prospect Mountain, Vermont.
Prospect Mountain is a great place and there are literally miles of trails, I cannot recommend it enough! It's affordable both for access and for rentals, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and it has the most welcoming lodge I have ever been in (they serve Cholula Quesadilla's amongst other awesome choices).
To most people who have spent their winters downhill skiing / boarding the idea of going for a walk in skis on flat and often uphill terrain seems like it will be no fun whatsoever. Noah was no exception. After three outings in three days I am happy to say he is a convert.
Yesterday was by far the prettiest of the days so I took some pictures, enjoy.
This is only my second season of cross country and now I am looking to upgrade my equipment so I can hit the backcountry properly. Not only am I going to need new (at least new to me) skis and boots, I am also going to need emergency survival equipment. I'm also going to need a buddy for my adventures. Noah would like to come with me when he comes over to visit in the winter, he is a keen hill walker so it's an easy transition for him, on top of which he is already avalanched trained. My wife Stephanie is also interested however she has decided to concentrate on Skate skiing (another cross country discipline). So if anyone wants to be my backcountry buddy send me a message.
Back to the juggling fun tomorrow!
